The anticipated return to Tyrell's story, now in paperback!

Tyrell's father is just out of jail, and Tyrell doesn't know how to deal with that. It's bad enough that his brother Troy is in foster care and that his mother is no help whatsoever. Now there's another thing up in his face, just when he's trying to settle down. Tyrell's father has plans of his own, and doesn't seem to care whether or not Tyrell wants to go along with them. Tyrell can see the crash that's coming -- with his dad, with the rest of his family, with the girls he's seeing -- but he's not sure he can stop it. Or if he even wants to.

Praise for Tyrell:

A 2007 LA Times Book Prize Winner for Young Adult Fiction

An ALA Best Books for Young Adults

“[A] gritty and gripping first novel.” – The New York Times Book Review

* “Heartbreakingly realistic….Unlike many books reflecting the contemporary street scene, this one is more than just a pat situation with a glib resolution; it's filled with surprising twists and turns that continue to the end.” – Booklist, starred review

“[T]he definitive tale of the modern African American urban youth.” – VOYA

Praise for Kendra:

An ALA Best Book for Young Adults

New York Public Library “Stuff for the Teen Age”

* “From Bronx blocks to Harlem hangouts, Booth delivers dynamic characters and an engaging story.” – School Library Journal, starred review

“A frank, honest, never-idealized look at mother-daughter relationships, sexuality, and friendship.” – Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books

* “The happy (and daring) ending feels truly earned.” – Horn Book, starred review

Praise for Bronxwood:

"Readers who have been with Tyrell from the beginning as well as those meeting him for the first time will be utterly invested in his future." - Kirkus Reviews

"Hope rings true through Tyrell’s sense of survival and responsibility as he cares for his brother, his friends, and his girl." - Booklist

"Action scenes combine with interpersonal exchanges to keep the pace moving forward at a lightning speed, but Booth never sacrifices the street-infused dialogue and emotional authenticity that characterize her works. She has created a compelling tale of a teen still trying to make the right choices despite the painful consequences." - School Library Journal

Incredible Follow Up to "Tyrell"
By Therocprince
Coe Booth has quickly become my favorite author as I've read both "Kendra", and "Tyrell" amazing products of heart, creativity, and talent. "Bronxwood" was spectacular, and way better than I initially expected. Usually, when you fall in love with a novel, your often disappointed with it's sequel but "Bronxwood" did not fail me as a "Tyrell" fan. The first thing that "Bronxwood" does is allow you as a reader to become more connected to the life he lives, his feelings, his background, and his drive to do better. The one thing that I admire about the character Tyrell is, like myself he tries very hard not to fall into the traps that people around him have fallen into. It's easy for people, especially African-American young men to duplicate what they see. However, Tyrell is a LEADER and not a follower, and that is the biggest quality he carries. The book was also way more exciting than the original. Which is what most sequels fail to do. Instead of trying to retell us what happened in the first book, she creates a totally different story that continues to show us the growth of Tyrell as he grows into his own man. Overall, Tyrell's story is incredible, entertaining, and relatable. KUDOS to Ms. Coe Booth, and I hope she continues to give us her talent with more books surrounding Tyrell. I also am extremely interested in reading a book surrounding Jasmine, as her character is the Bonnie to Tyrell's Clyde. I'm ready to see them take a life on together outside of Bronxwood.

A magnificent story
By Paul G
Coe Booth has been one of my very favorite storytellers ever since I read Tyrell. Kendra also was magnificent. Bronxwood blew me away. Every word coming from Tyrell's mind rings so true. I could be walking in my neighborhood, hearing 16-yr old kids talk. Coe never judges her characters. She lets them be who they are. She never preaches or tries to teach a lesson. She lets you decide for yourself whether or not the characters are on the right track. Whether or not you "like" what the characters are up to, you love them. You feel for them in such an immediate way. You laugh with them a lot too--the humor is so great, relayed by a wise soul of a writer. Coe's ear for dialogue, her characters' voices--all remarkable. And she gives the characters a fast-placed plot to live in. Bronxwood is devastatingly awesome, an absolutely phenomenal read. I loved this book. -Paul Griffin, NYC, 10-15-2011

another journey

just when I think that Tyrell life can't get any worst here he is living with his bestfriend cal he think that he is living the life over there but comes to find out he have to be the responsible one over at his friends house because to me nobody just didn't care about how the house was looking except Tyrell but I just couldn't believe his parents to me he act like he was the parent instead of the child but one thing I couldn't stand about his father its like if he knew that his child wanted to go home in it is not safe where he is staying at I don't know why that his father could say that he wanted him to come home so they can be a family but that was not his words it was like he wanted Tyrell to beg to come home I just didn't get him in also he didn't give him any credit on what he had done for the family while he was gone it was just like he was knocking him down for everything he had did. I just love this knew relationship with him in jasmine because to me it was a long time coming I just love how jasmine like to know what is going on in his life but I just wish that jasmine should of told him what was going on in her life too but I just can't wait for a 3 book of Tyrell because I wanna know what go happen between him in jasmine . In the mean time I will be reading Kendra because I wanna know more about this adona girl
